ZHANGMU - LHASA OR V.V

DURATION: 7 NIGHTS/ 8 DAYS( DRIVE IN- FLY OUT)

DAY-01 : KATHMANDU- ZHANGMU, 2300M

This morning we will take a beautiful drive to Kodari (Nepal China Border - 5 Hours) with breakfast stop in Dhulikhel -a hillock about 30 km from Kathmandu. After completing the immigration formalities(Nepal side ) we drive up hill to Zhangmu (subject to road condition) where Chinese immigration is located. You stay in Zhangmu for overnight.

DAY-02 : ZHANGMU - NEW TINGRI 4225M

After breakfast at hotel we drive about 7 - 8 hours to New Tingri. The drive provides spectacular views of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Cho You, Shisapangama , Mt. Makalu etc (weather permitting).

DAY-03 : NEW TINGRI -SHIGATSE-approx. 3900 M

After breakfast at Hotel we drive to Shigatse crossing the highest passes of our trip, the Lhatse pass at 5220m. Time and road permitting we will also visit Sakya Monastery, which is 26 km off the main road in Shigatse province.

DAY-04 : SHIGATSE - GYANTSE - approx. 3800 M

After breakfast you will visit Tashilunpo Monastery and the market and drive 2 hours to Gyantse. Tashilunpo monastery, founded by the 1st Dalai Lama in 1447 AD, is the seat of Panchen Lama. In Gyantse visit Phalkor Chode & Kumbum Stupa.

DAY-05 : GYANTSE - LHASA approx. 3700 M

Today we drive to Lhasa. It is a journey of about 265 km. with a spectacular view of Gyantse valley and Yamdrok Lake. Enroute we cross 2 high passes, Karo-La (16432ft) and Kamba-La (15724). In Lhasa, transfer to hotel for overnight

DAY-06-07 : SIGHTSEEING IN LHASA

You will be spending two full days in Lhasa visiting Potala Palace, Sera Monastery Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery, Barkhor Market and Norbulingka Summer Palace.

DAY-08 : LHASA - FINAL DEPARTURE
